I’m so happy. My long dreaded obesity presentation is done and dusted and it went fine. I’m so relieved!
Honestly, it was a close run thing. I hardly slept, and then I felt sick this morning when I got up. I felt like there was a real possibility I’d succumb to an attack of diarrhoea and/or vomitting during my presentation. It didn’t go perfectly but as well as I could have hoped for within the limits of my anxiety and stage fright. People even seemed engaged, laughed at the appropriate times, and while no one asked any real questions at the end, I did get several people coming up to me afterwards to talk about it.
My greatest stroke of luck was following on after some poor hapless junior doctor who had to do a very dry and boring journal club presentation before me, so that I looked much more interesting and lively in comparison.
I’ll publish my presentation here, even though it’s not the full text as I spoke in a less scripted way especially with some of the later slides. Let me know if the link doesn’t work and I’ll do it with screenshots instead.
