(Should there be an apostrophe in there? Whose greetings are they?) Just got a well wishing text from an old colleague whom I haven’t heard from in ages.
Very heartwarming, even taking into account it woke me up from my nap which at my age I desperately need if I hope to make it to midnight.
In any event, I wrote a very full and enthusiastic reply until I suddenly thought, just before sending it “Hang on, that doesn’t sound like a very personal message…” from the sender. And on rereading it, I was right:
Goddammit! They’ve sent it to everyone on their contacts list. I toyed with the idea of replying in kind or not at all, but I’ve decided to be the better man. Besides, I’ve already gone to all the effort of writing it. And I’m awake now. I’ve sent it, but I do feel vaguely like I’ve been catfished.
