Friday 26 September Somewhere in the English Channel

Well, we have bitten the bullet and done it.

Simon had an OK night and felt reasonable this morning, so after chatting with our general surgeon friend, we decided to join the cruise. He assured us that even if we bailed and fled to London, we’d likely only continue with the supportive treatment he’s already on.
So, we checked out and drove down to Southampton airport, dropped off the car and then taxied to the cruise terminal. We’d never got around to checking in online, but it didn’t seem to matter. It only took around half an hour before we were on board and in our stateroom.
We had a buffet lunch and found a workstation where a chef made a zero fat tomato pasta dish for Simon which was the most substantial meal he’s had for days. I had a nap and then it was time to set sail. We sailed past the Queen Mary, a sister ship of the Queen Anne. It gives you an idea of how big we are. There’s room for 3000 passengers.

We are at sea, sailing north, for the next two days.
