Got to work this morning to find I\u2019ve been assigned to an all day gyne list – a specialty I don\u2019t normally anaesthetise for – which is a planned long day, because they\u2019re teaching a course for surgeons via a video link. Management assured the team that everyone had been informed, but neither I nor the anaesthetic tech knew anything about it. Our first patient is obese, I have a trainee tech, the place is riddled with surgeons, and there\u2019s a med student breathing down my neck. I\u2019m all ready to resign and it\u2019s not even 8 am.<\/p>\n

Well, my tech was a pleasure to work with, the med student was refreshing, the surgeon bought me a coffee, there was left over free food, and the work has been nicely undemanding.
