<\/p>\nHave just been to see a midday showing of the movie Emma here in Waikanae. As it was the middle of a working day in a retirement town, the large audience were mainly elderly. I would guess the average age to be virtually the same as that of fatal cases of Coronavirus around the world, give or take six months. I wonder if they all came out today knowing that soon they\u2019ll all need to be self quarantining for Covid-19 and they wanted to make the most of socializing while they can? Although actually I suspect that anyone who has lived through the Blitz would think all this virus panic was much ado about nothing.<\/p>\n
The movie was awesome. I\u2019m a great Austen fan, although I must say there was more nudity in this adaptation than I remember from the book (\u201cMr Knightley!\u201d) Highly recommended, anyway.<\/p>\n

The group of retirees I heard chatting about the movie afterwards also seemed to enjoy it. \u00a0There was much laughter about the strict morals and manners of the times. \u201cAlthough, of course, it\u2019s all gone too much the other way now!\u201d according to one old gent, with whom everyone else seemed to agree with much shaking of the head. They looked askance at me as if I represented all that was morally repugnant about today\u2019s young whippersnappers.
