Unexpectedly had the day off, the first Academy Awards Monday I haven\u2019t had to work in I don\u2019t know how long. I was very excited to watch it up here in our palatial beachside abode, that my husband has filled with all the latest technology for our viewing pleasure – meaning thousands of remotes and great difficulty for any of the rest of us trying to watch anything without him around. Sure enough, when the show started, I couldn\u2019t find it anywhere on any of the channels I could get access to. Unfortunately my husband was inconsiderately working so I could get no timely advice, and ended up following it on the Guardian app on my iPad.<\/p>\n
Some hours later, I was looking at my daughters feed on Snapchat, and lo and behind there was a video of her and her flatties watching the Oscars on the ordinary telly in their squalid student flat! I was mortified.
