Just finished my homework, which was the French translation of a couple of English medical romance novels from 1997.<\/p>\n

The first love story was between two doctors working at a remote charity hospital in Africa, but the second one was between a nurse and a medical administrator, to my horror. He was the manager of a small country hospital, and owned the most fabulous mansion in the county, in spite of only working gentleman\u2019s hours. What a kick in the teeth! There were doctors in the story, but as peripheral characters, either happily married (to nurses) or as love rivals. The latter was a female orthopaedic surgeon who also had her eye on the hospital director in question. Call me old fashioned, but surely the whole point of a medical romance is having doctors as an object of lust? I don\u2019t care how handsome or complicated he is, or how many houses he owns, a bean counter just doesn\u2019t cut it. What is the world coming to??<\/p>\n
