{"id":12770,"date":"2026-03-17T21:49:33","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T08:49:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/accordingtokirsty.com\/?p=12770"},"modified":"2026-03-17T21:49:33","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T08:49:33","slug":"saint-patricks-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/accordingtokirsty.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/17\/saint-patricks-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Saint Patrick\u2019s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have no Irish ancestry at all but I\u2019ll usually make some effort to celebrate Saint Patrick\u2019s Day with my clothes or jewellery.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I had some shamrock earrings I bought in Ireland back in the 90s but they got stolen when our house was robbed a few years ago. Today I wore earrings with a Celtic pattern, green socks, an emerald necklace, and a green scrub hat at work. I\u2019ve got several Irish colleagues, and when I spotted one this morning I greeted her with \u201cTop o\u2019 the morning to ya!\u201d, to which she smiled weakly. I was a bit puzzled by this but didn\u2019t think much of it until I was chatting to another Irish colleague this evening. I exclaimed that he wasn\u2019t wearing anything green, and he pointed to his orange scrub had, which he was wearing in protest. What I hadn\u2019t realised was that both he and my other colleague from earlier in the day were actually Protestants from Belfast, so all this Catholic rubbish about celebrating Saints days was a lot of nonsense as far as they were concerned.
