I\u2019ve had a lot of fun this year ordering Christmas hampers for various teams I work with. Why is it so much easier getting gifts for people you hardly know than for family and friends?<\/p>\n

They are always ridiculously and gratifyingly grateful, which is a nice reward for very little effort, although now I\u2019m worried about setting a precedent. It may be easier to retire than remember everyone I\u2019ve previously given a gift to for future Christmases.<\/p>\n

The company I use has an option of adding a card on which they\u2019ll write any message you like. This is useful unless I\u2019m going to hand deliver it in which case I can save myself a couple of dollars and some mental effort by leaving it out. The website is slightly cumbersome if you don\u2019t want a card included \u201cif you don\u2019t<\/em> want a card, press the\u00a0select\u00a0<\/em>option twice, and then write\u00a0NA\u00a0<\/em>(Not Applicable) in the message area.\u201d<\/p>\n

So I was a little surprised to see a card included in the box I took to work yesterday. This is what I found:<\/p>\n
