Just spent the last half hour trying to sign into WordPress. I finally got there in the end but I\u2019m not sure how and I\u2019m fairly certain I won\u2019t be able to reproduce the steps I took. There was an automatically generated password in there somewhere which I\u2019m hoping my iPad will remember but I\u2019m not confident.* I suppose I should be pleased that the company is working so very hard to keep out anyone who might want to write random unofficial blog posts. It\u2019s just lucky that the surgical case I\u2019m looking after isn\u2019t too demanding. In fact, our patient did a wee prayer to God before going off to sleep, which made me feel a little uncomfortable because the surgery she\u2019s having is entirely cosmetic. Is that judgemental of me? Probably. Anyway, I suppose it means I\u2019m now doing God\u2019s work. Everything is going well so far, you\u2019ll be pleased to know, apart from my not being able to log into my blog site. I might suspect God of trying to ensure I\u2019m paying attention, but surely that\u2019s just paranoia?<\/p>\n

We\u2019re now deep into December so I\u2019ve managed to persuade my surgeon into letting me put on my Spotify Christmas \u00a0playlist. His only condition was no Mariah Carey. We\u2019re currently listening to a souped up version of \u2018The Carol of The Bells\u2019. Very nice. I\u2019m also wearing as much festive theatre apparel as possible.<\/p>\n

\"\"The trans flag lanyard isn\u2019t festive but I\u2019ve swapped out my old Hufflepuff one under pressure from my son. It did seem rather inappropriate to be looking after people having gender affirmation surgery while wearing something from the J K Rowling universe, a person who has vowed to use all her Potter income to wipe trans people from the surface of the earth. Or their rights, anyway, which is much the same thing. It was false advertising, anyway, as I\u2019m pretty sure I\u2019m more of a Slytherin.<\/p>\n

Does a trans flag lanyard make me \u201cwoke\u201d? I think my Xmas hat, jewellery, and festive playlist exclude me from that hated group, because don\u2019t woke people say \u201cHappy Holidays\u201d because of their war on Christmas? Honestly, it\u2019s hard to keep up. I\u2019m just glad to be avoiding the US of A at present, and not just because I\u2019m afraid of getting shot.<\/p>\n

Simon is fully recovered from his surgery and is back at work. Now I\u2019m the one with health issues, with a couple of cold sores recently, and some sort of nerve issue going on in my buttock and leg. I suppose it\u2019s sciatica but that sounds so much like an old person thing (Ooh my Gawd! Stap me! My lumbago! Aargh!) Besides, Simon tells me it might not be from my back but rather pyriformis syndrome ,\u00a0<\/em>which still affects the sciatic nerve, but a bit further down. I\u2019d never heard of it before but after he mentioned it I did some frantic googling. Apparently it\u2019s associated with too much sitting. Rude! Harvard had this to say on its website.<\/p>\n

\"\"I circled the bit that caused me disquiet, sent it to him and said I could understand why he was wary about examining me to confirm the diagnosis. But as it turns out, he\u2019d never heard of that particular test. He even expressed concern about how I refine my google searches. Rude, again! You can see that there\u2019s somewhat of a lack of respect in our marriage, which is perhaps no surprise as tomorrow is our 30th wedding anniversary. I have no idea honestly how we made it this far. Habit, I suppose. (Love you, darling! And don\u2019t forget, 30th is diamonds. Yes, I know I\u2019ve said that for every anniversary before this one, but this time it\u2019s really true\u2026)<\/p>\n
