The move has been a great success so far: even though it\u2019s only been 15 minutes I have a good feeling about it.<\/p>\n
Simon\u2019s health continues to improve. The restaurant has been very good, preparing no fat versions of meals for him every night, but since he\u2019s feeling better he\u2019s gradually easing up on the strictness of his diet. He\u2019s told the restaurant he\u2019s going back to the regular menu as of tomorrow. I\u2019m grateful, partly because his meals really haven\u2019t looked that appetizing, but also because I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a good long term health strategy to get the majority of your calories from alcohol. He tells me it\u2019s the 4th major food group but I\u2019m not convinced.<\/p>\n
We have an elderly English couple who sit next to us at meals. The husband seems very mild mannered and inoffensive but Simon\u2019s is convinced he\u2019s dementing. The wife is the more forceful of the two. She was telling me how much she enjoyed the comedian whose show we saw before dinner. All very clean, far better than all these comedians you see on the TV who swear every second word. I didn\u2019t disagree, he was just the sort of entertainer my dad used to like, lots of innuendo and jokes about \u2019the wife\u2019 but no actual swearing.<\/p>\n
It surprised me then when she was talking about the tour of Troms\u00f8 they did yesterday, she thought it was very good: \u201cthey didn\u2019t give too many fucks\u201d, which made me raise my eyebrows. It wasn\u2019t until a few minutes later I realized her posh accent had made me mishear the word \u201cfacts\u201d.
\nShe had also been bemoaning earlier in the week about missing the aurora, so I\u2019d asked Simon to specifically tell her that there was a good one last night. She was talking about it at dinner tonight. Unfortunately she hadn\u2019t been able to turn the flash off on her phone, and a number of people had told her off for shining bright lights in their eyes, which destroys your night vision for some minutes afterwards. I rolled my eyes when she told that story, but I have to say her photos were at least as good if not better than mine, so maybe she was onto something.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
