Simon took a backwards step last night.<\/p>\n

I should have known he was worried after he took his temperature twice before going to bed. He woke me this morning to say he thought he was worse and we should go to a hospital, and there was no way we\u2019d be getting on that cruise.<\/p>\n

But then he started feeling better, so we had an early breakfast and decided to get some advice from a general surgeon friend who was on holiday over here (it pays to know people). He was much more relaxed about what was going on, but it turns out deep fried black pudding for dinner last night was perhaps not the greatest idea. Simon is now on a strict low fat diet in order to allow our holiday to continue. We\u2019ll see how that turns out.<\/p>\n

So, we proceeded as per our original plan, and drove down through the length of England to Henley-on-Thames, famous for its rowing. We are staying at the Leander Club, the most successful rowing club in the world.<\/p>\n

English drivers, to my surprise, are no better than Kiwi ones. Speeding, tailgating, and weaving between lanes without indicating, are all rife. I\u2019m sure most of these people would be better at Formula One racing than me, but in terms of reaching your destination in a safe and timely manner, they do not impress.<\/p>\n

We arrived here midafternoon, after following a plan set out for us by our car. It certainly makes life very simple. It knows where all the fast chargers are, and how many are free at each location, and you just have to plug in how much charge you want to have when you arrive at your destination. One less thing to worry about, which suits us just fine right now, to be honest.<\/p>\n

Quick nap, and hoping to have dinner here at the club. This will be a test for the low fat diet.<\/p>\n
