Phew, made it. A veeery long Friday for us, and even with some sleep on the plane I\u2019m very tired.
\nI must say our arrival has been seamless. With electronic immigration gates and luggage on the carousel as we arrived, we were out of the airport within 30 minutes of landing. Heathrow is an enormous airport, we had a lot of walking to do, but I was perfectly happy with that as you get a pretty poor step count on a plane.<\/p>\n
From the airport we took the tube to Piccadilly Circus, and then walked to the Reform Club on Pall Mall where we are staying. Quickest check in ever, no keys – clearly a high trust model! – and zero interest in our passports.
\nThe rooms are pushing the boundaries of \u2018faded elegance\u2019 into decrepitude, but it\u2019s very charming, well located, and astoundingly cheap.<\/p>\n
Movies I saw on the plane, ranked:<\/p>\n
Coco before Chanel – excellent French biopic of the famous French fashion designer. Ended before the start of WW1 so no scandal involving Nazis.<\/p>\n
Mickey 17 – love a good sci fi, and the \u2018live die repeat\u2019 motif is hard to beat. The lead, who is that guy from Twilight, was good but I don\u2019t know why he had to put on that annoying whiny voice.<\/p>\n
In the Nguyen kitchen – French musical about a French Vietnamese woman who wants to do musical theatre. Fun.<\/p>\n
A French film about a picture stolen by the Nazis and found years later by a young man. He calls the art experts and everything goes pretty straightforwardly from there. Solid.<\/p>\n
A French film which is up there with the worst movies I\u2019ve ever seen. A bunch of paintings are stolen from a French museum causing trouble amongst a group of unlikeable and inept acquaintances. I can\u2019t find the title sorry but avoid it if you can.<\/p>\n
