Celebration

With all my wittering on about Trade me auctions and the garden, I forgot to mention the really big news for our family last week, which was the graduation of our youngest offspring.

Proud mamma (right)

I am so proud of not only this most recent co-occupant of my womb but also both of her siblings, who all managed to pick themselves up after early setbacks in their academic careers, and are all now thriving. No one would ever choose to fail because it feels horrible at the time, but surely it gives you a buffer of resilience in the face of whatever adversity life will bring in the years ahead that a straight run to success would never provide. There’s nothing quite like recognising a feeling that you’ve survived before, ghastly and awful though it may be, to give you the confidence and self belief that chances are, you’re going to survive it again.

To Rebecca: well done, you!
