Woof

Let me be the first to acknowledge that barking dogs are annoying. After all, am I not once again laying out an enormous amount of cash to complete the high fence at the bottom of our section just for that purpose?
Oh, and also to prevent the escape of the acrobatic Ratdog who has the ability to leap tall fences with a single bound.

The majority of people walking past our house while circumnavigating the lagoon are quite chill about being barked at. There may be actual or metaphorical eye rolling, but that’s as far as it goes.
Then there are the people, fewer in number it’s true, who exclaim at how gorgeous the dogs are. Yes they are barking wildly from the top of the deck, but they are also both cute and fluffy and as un intimidating as you could possibly imagine.

But then there are the people who get angry. “No! Shut up! Stop barking!” Has this approach ever worked for them? “Oh I’m so sorry! Sir, madam, there must have been some misunderstanding…you don’t like being barked at, you say? Well we will stop immediately! Please do continue with your walk, and have a nice day!”
I can only suppose that it comes from a deep need to allow your displeasure to become known.
