Hey is that…

Crawling off the plane sluggish and bleary eyed this morning, I was annoyed to be overtaken by a big loud man as he welcomed two people who’d come to accompany him through the immigration process.

He looked vaguely familiar. Having watched the latest Air NZ safety video some hours before, I recognized Stephen Adams. But then I looked closer. He was wearing a silly hat and carrying a guitar case, and was speaking American loudly. Ah I thought, it’s that actor whatsisname.
Just then Simon, well known for his visual agnosia, turned to me and said “Hey isn’t that that basketball player?” which was much closer than he usually gets, but I was still able to scoff and say no, it’s Aquaman. I still couldn’t remember his name, but it came to me soon afterwards: Jason Momoa. Not sure what he’s doing in NZ but he’s got a surprise worldwide smash hit with the Minecraft movie at the moment.
I’d never previously noticed any resemblance between the two men but looking it up just now, I’m pleased to know I’m not the only one who’s seen it.
Well, that’s my celebrity sighting of the day. One more reason , though, why I would never never in a million years approach a famous person. Imagine screwing up the courage to go up to them and then you’ve got the wrong person? Better to die instantly from a merciful thunderbolt from up above than endure that shame.
