My pace of acquiring my latest language has slowed somewhat. What sort of show-off country needs three different alphabets??
I made reasonable progress with hiragana, I’m making a start with kanji, but I’m ignoring katakana entirely. You have to have some limits when time is short.
Having said that, it’s not all hard work. The body count in Shogun might be higher than I’m normally comfortable with (remember, I was forbidden to watch Squid Games by my offspring, which I consider to be a perfectly sensible if rather paternalistic decision), but there are some lighter moments, even if it’s just in unintentionally amusing subtitles.
