Photographed this little insect buzzing around the flowers by the pool yesterday.
It is a hummingbird hawk moth, according to my insect loving offspring. It inhabits the same ecological niche as a hummingbird, in that it has a long proboscis that it delicately inserts into flowers to reach the nectar other bugs can’t get at.
