Had a look at the swan plant last night before I went to bed.
No caterpillars, no ants, but two scary looking black bugs that I couldn’t identify, and today, no life at all. Spooky.

I have been doing my research i.e. a quick few minutes of googling, and have found this:
The wasps mentioned are the Asian paperwasp in particular, and there are two nests on our property than I’m advised to douse in fly spray, then put in a plastic bag and place in the freezer. Seems rather foolhardy to me and something better left to the experts. However, there’s no time like the present and this wholesale slaughter of my butterfly community is making me uncomfortable. I will have at it. Wish me luck.
