Looked after a chap on Friday who was happy to give us all the benefit of his political opinions, unsolicited.
The new government is absolutely fabulous apparently, cutting through all that PC bullshit the last guys were all wallowing in. A real eye opener was the fact that, bucking global trends, the uptake of EVs has dropped since National/ACT/NZ first came to power, with the loss of the green car subsidies. “Just goes to show that all that concern about the environment was just a sham and it was really all about the money! You’ll never catch me driving one of those things.” I smiled and nodded and was just glad I’d parked my Tesla out the back.
Once his procedure was underway, a quick poll of the theatre staff revealed over half of us had EVs. How lucky it was for our gentleman’s peace of mind that he had no interest at all in anyone else’s opinions.
(ps. Reading through this post I realize I make our man sound very unsympathetic, but actually he was a perfectly pleasant guy.)
