I haven’t got much of any import to say about the FIFA women’s football World Cup, except to say how much I enjoyed it.
I saw three live games, and each was very different, but they were all excellent and engrossing. The word “soccer” just seems wrong to me now so I think I’m just going to call it “football” from now on. Rugby can be “rugby” as far as I’m concerned.
The worst part of each game actually were the Mexican waves. How I hate them! I can’t understand why they’re so popular. I probably seem like a grinch when I stay seated as it moves past me but I’d much rather watch the game than participate. Surely it must seem like a distraction at best to the players on the field, and at worst a sign that what’s going on on the pitch isn’t interesting enough to hold our attention. If I was King I would ban it immediately.
