Anticlimax

And after all that, my boss wasn’t at work today.

I didn’t find out until after 4 pm, so I spent the entire day waiting for the balloon to go up, or the axe to fall, or whatever metaphor is appropriate to the situation. She now wants to “catch up” next week. It’s a bit disappointing that this is still going to be hanging over my head over Easter, but on the other hand, surely it can’t too serious if she’s treating it so nonchalantly, can it? That’s what I’m telling myself, anyway. And after all, it’s several days away now, and anything could happen in that time. She might get hit by a car – she’s a keen cyclist – or I could die of a surfeit of hot cross buns. Life is uncertain, best not to worry!
