Deluge

Yesterday was the wettest Auckland day on record.
I can remember some pretty torrential rain when I lived there as a kid, but this was clearly off the charts. The photos and film clips of the devastation are something to behold.
As it happens, two of my children were up there this weekend for the Elton John concerts. Last nights one was cancelled less than an hour before he was due to take the stage, much to the ire of my eldest who was just entering the arena at the time and then spent ages struggling to get back to their accommodation. At least tonight’s show was cancelled with plenty of warning, so the other child never got anywhere near the stadium.
Some of the media haven’t lost their traditional pun-happy sense of humour.
