Someone told me a few days ago that it’s eleven weeks until Christmas.
I’m a huge fan of the festive season but this took me by surprise. I’ve been repeating it to everyone with some glee all week and it’s hilarious to see the looks of dismay in people’s eyes. For some it’s because they hate Christmas and everything about it, which they’ll tell you about with great vehemence, but even those who have mild or even positive feelings will grimace, mostly at the amount of work and organisation it represents that they haven’t yet started.
I found one pop-up Christmas shop in town a couple of weeks ago, but otherwise most shops are still in Halloween mode. It must be all hands on deck for them – to deck the halls in fact – come November the first.
