My husband spent some time with a younger woman this afternoon, while I was out of town.
Her name is Stacie, and she’s a fitness instructor. They went on a jog along the beach in Hawaii, and I paid for it.
It’s a program on the new elliptical cross trainer I bought him for his birthday yesterday. It’s called ifit. I’ve never used any gym equipment in my life but if I was going to, this would be the one. Rather than just exercising to music, there’s an immersive program that you train along with – and the machine actually changes it’s settings to match what’s happening on the screen. So, if you’re meant to be running up a hill, the machine tilts upwards. It’s very clever. Normally he goes for runs (something else I never do) but occasionally if the weather is terrible, or he’s injured, then he can do this instead. He had one years ago, but it was old technology, and it also had a rhythmic squeak which you could hear all round the house. We got rid of it. Stacie and her colleagues will be a huge improvement.
