Fall

The dogs were barking wildly inside this morning so I got up to see what they were up to.

There was a blackbird stuck inside, flapping at the window above the front door, terrified and trying to escape. I opened the front door and waited but it seemed disinclined to fly down nearer the dogs in order to get outside. I tried flapping at it with a towel, and then poking it with a broom, to no avail. In the end I built a rickety tower out of furniture in order to reach it. As I balanced the stepladder on the coffee table, I could just imagine trying to explain things to the staff in ED. Or possibly, is this how I die?

……

Now that the bird is safe (not without crapping on me first), I’m off to buy a ladder. Maybe then I can tackle the aerial gardens that have grown in my gutters! This is going to be so much easier to explain to future medical staff…
