My french lessons have all been about very serious topics lately, verging on grim.
We’re doing recent French history, and so far most of last century has been war, protests, death, and abortion. So, for a change we’re doing a hero of popular music this week: Claude François. Did you know that he did the original version, which was in French, of the song ripped off in English by Frank Sinatra as “My Way”? His biography is all very jolly until you get to him accidentally electrocuting himself in the bath while trying to fix a light fixture. He was only 39.
