I could never be a politician.
First and foremost, because no one would ever vote for me, but also because I just couldn’t find it in me to be politic all the time.
It’s not that I’m lacking empathy. I really feel for those having a rough time – people who can’t find somewhere to live, or a job, or have health problems, for example – but I have little sympathy for the well off who don’t want to be inconvenienced. “Woe is me! I’m no longer able to park my gas guzzling wank mobile right outside the door of my house (which I paid $500k for ten years ago and is now worth $3M) because the nasty council want to fix our traffic nightmare with internationally proven strategies such as investing in public transport and active modes such as walking and cycling rather than turning my city into a Los Angeles-esque concrete jungle. Also, no vaccine or mask mandates because my freedom is more important than anyone else’s health or wellbeing! I’ll lump billionaires whining about tax in here too. My answer would be the same: sucks to be you, dickweed. Get over it.
