There’s an inverse relationship between the quality of the book I’m reading and the amount of time I spend scrolling aimlessly through Facebook and looking at memes and videos of animals being rescued and other such time wasting behaviours.
My current read is a stupid book about witches and vampires which is extremely long, a fact I hadn’t appreciated when I started reading it on my kindle. It’s been made into a tv series, according to the book’s cover, which I will do my best to avoid. There’s never been a single point in the book that was so bad that I was able to justify to myself stopping reading it, although there was a sex scene a few chapters back which was perilously close. After two weeks I’m still only 75% through, partly because it’s so long but mostly because I don’t care enough to make time to read it. I suspect even this post counts as displacement activity…
