I’ve been talking smack about a colleague the past few days, and this morning my phone rang and their name was on caller ID.

Lots of down time during lockdown, a good chance to catch up on posting my old work emails,

Two of my daughters have longish names that they have chosen to shorten.

I was talking to a friend on the phone the other day about the trying year she’s had.

Out walking this afternoon, with the dogs on leads and mask at the ready, I passed a young family of a father and his two boys at a safe distance of two metres plus.

Whenever I catch a whiff of flowers – daphne is in season at the moment – while out walking or riding my bike, it gives me a great sense of well-being.

The anaesthetic department has had a regular daily 5 pm briefing on Zoom since the start of this latest COVID lockdown.

I put my glass recycling out yesterday, unsure if it was going to get collected or not in level four of lockdown, but figuring it wouldn’t do any harm.

Last year I did lockdown with the twins, who were refugees from Otago University.
