That small electrical fault in our dryer is a gift that keeps on giving…
…or perhaps it’s just that it’s exposed my acquisitive streak for what it is.
When the new dryer and front loading washing machine combo arrived on Monday, we discovered the very minor plumbing job of moving the free standing tub 60 cm to the right was actually a major undertaking, involving not just a little extension to the pipes but rather several hours of digging through concrete to reroute the waste water outflow. Rather than throw good money after bad (for the third time), we’ve ended up putting the dryer on the opposite end of the bench rather than on top of the new washing machine. Of course, this means we could have stuck with our old top loading washing machine after all, obviating the need for (that particular bit of ) our expensive laundry appliance upgrade. Ha ha ha I laughed till I cried! It also means the flash new heat pump/condenser dryer has to drain into a very unattractive bucket rather than directly into the sink as is recommended.
At least there is one good thing that’s come out of this fiasco – my daughter confessed to me last night that she’d never heard the term “white ware” before – so I’ve taught her something new. And isn’t education priceless?
