This reminds me of that horrible metaphor they use in sporting fixtures, decrying the weakness of a team that takes their foot off the throat of their opponent, presumably before administering the lethal, killing blow. Please do take your foot off! It’s rude and unfriendly, and after all, it’s just a game…
