We are down south to do the Otago Rail Trail. Yes, another holiday!
This morning we were exploring the Dunedin Farmers Market when we came across a “Who ate all the pies?” truck. These are Simons favourite brand of pie. Many’s the time I have come down to breakfast to find evidence of midnight pie feasts – plastic pie wrappers on the bench top and a pile of pastry crumbs. It turns out they are made locally here in Dunedin and shipped all round New Zealand.
The fillings available in our local supermarket tend to be fairly standard – mince and cheese, steak – but the ones available at the market were more adventurous. It was exciting to try them – but I can tell you, a little bit of haggis pie goes a long way.
