Fair

Whenever I go out with a man, or my husband, and we order wine, my glass is invariably filled less than my companions.
I’m not sure if this is unconscious bias, or deliberate, but it’s an incredibly widespread practice. The other night I was at a degustation, and this is my wine pour compared to my male friend.

Pretty blatant, and rather on the nose as we both paid the same (exorbitant) amount for the event.

I’m a little torn, though. Most of the time when I’ve been out drinking, at the end of the evening or the following morning I usually have some feeling of regret for how much I’ve drunk. So in that case, could these parsimonious pours actually represent a good deed by my servers?
I think overall, though, it’s my sense of fair play that takes precedence here, and that is particularly outraged. I’ve never had the courage to actually say anything before, apart from gentle whingeing to my companions, but maybe the time has come to stand up for myself. I’ll let you know how it goes.
