Saturday night – alright! +old scheduling email

Not really. Simon is at Beervana, and I’ve been at work all day, still here, and no end in sight.

Life isn’t fair! But at least I’m having a better day than the man on the operating table in front of me.

Bit lacking in inspiration recently so here’s an old email as filler.

This was Dean’s favourite phrase when it came to scheduling (well, his favourite printable one). And this week is a great example of that basic tenet. Today we farewell a huge proportion of our RMOs, off to bigger and better things. Thanks for all your hard work, it’s been great getting to know you, and best wishes for the future. Next week there will be lots of new faces around the place (well, there will from Monday onwards, after they’ve done orientating on Monday).  We have three “Dr Smiths” and several who’s names start with “Ch” but I’m sure we’ll get to know them all soon enough.

Our department Christmas party is at Derek and Isobel’s house on Sunday, looks like we should get another excellent turnout. It’s a very salubrious neighbourhood, I hear.* Unfortunately I must tender my apologies, I have a prior engagement looking after a beach house full of teenagers up at Waikanae. I am anticipating a quiet and relaxing time.

Monday

A skeleton crew today due to RMO orientation, most people are working by themselves.

Tuesday

New RMOs unleashed.

Wednesday

(whoops – have lost the underlining and now can’t get rid of italics. I’m writing this on my ipad as have had so much trouble with outlook at work – but now I am full of regrets)

The marvelous Dr D is covering the OT 1 cardiac list due to a general lack of commitment amongst his colleagues. Not really.

Thursday

I am DAA aaargh!

Oh now I’ve fixed it.

Vascular theatre relatively overpopulated, a new gambit to ensure everyone gets their VOP sorted ASAP.

Friday I can’t believe I changed the format again, old habits die hard I guess.

Cardiac in OT 2 given away to gyne, they regretted it almost immediately afterwards and have been trying to claw it back ever since.

The rest is self evident I hope, because I’m giving up now.

My last schedule before Xmas, I hope you all have a lovely festive season.

*they live on my street ahem
