Day one of our road trip and I’ve managed to get sunburnt sitting in the passenger seat driving from Wellington to Taupo.
First of all: rude! Second of all: how is that even feasible? I had a couple of pale freckled friends at Uni who swore it was possible to get burnt through a car window, but I never believed them. And surely not for normally complexioned persons. Even worse – I was wearing moisturizer which was supposedly SPF 30 or something. Outrageous! Particularly when I’m now at the age when I have to hoard all the healthy skin cells I’ve got, not wantonly waste them by exposing them to every bit of stray UV radiation.
On the other hand, it was a gorgeous day, and it was a very scenic trip. So on balance, wrinkly but happy.
