One of the greatest benefits of deciding to throw a cocktail party to celebrate an incipient birthday – apart from catching up with family and friends of course ahem – is the need to taste test a number of different cocktails to whittle down the numbers we’re going to make available to our guests. I was going to say a “dry run” but actually that seems 180 degrees from the actuality of Simon and I drinking a bunch of different cocktails with dinner. Feeling quite relaxed and happy now – although it’s back to work again tomorrow and frankly I’m not sure I’m ready.
