My husband and I just discovered another fun way to spend an hour together as a couple during the lockdown – trying to figure out why the central heating isn’t working. The mystery took us through the house and out to the laundry, where we finally tracked the problem down to a fan fault in the gas heater. I’m pleased to report there was hardly any bickering, but, boy, whoever designs the client/product interface on these sort of home appliances deserves a short sharp shock. The symbols used would confuse the Illuminati. Clearly “user friendly” is for losers. Anyway, after a few half hearted taps with a screwdriver, it’s still horribly cold, and we’re both praying that Jacinda considers home heating repair an essential service. We must be just about half an hour over our three year warranty, too.
