Letting it all go

Things are very different in the public hospital now. Normally I like to appear tidy and well put together, with smart outfits and matching jewellery. But this is the new regime under which we are living:

To protect ourselves and our family, we need to be really minimalist now. Crappy old clothes to wear to and from work, no jewellery, no bag stuffed with everything I might need – just a little ziplock bag with my phone, a pen, lip salve, and some cards. I’m sure I’ll forget something vital, which I’ll only discover when I go to do something and find I can’t. Like pay for lunch.
If I get through this it’s going to be really weird to go back to “normal” in a few months time. Slovenly habits are hard to break.
