Excuse me?

Got an email from my deputy HOD with some (constructive?) criticism of our latest newsletter. At one point she described my editorial as a marathon. Is that good or bad? When someone you know runs a marathon, aren’t you meant to be all encouraging and supportive? Do you think that’s what she’s getting at? Because I must say, I’m getting some “you’re being self indulgent” vibes. Maybe I’m being paranoid.

…………………

I’ve read the email again, and the word she actually used was ‘mammoth’. Is that better, do you reckon? I’m thinking along the lines of: “Golly that was a mammoth undertaking! Well done, you!” Of course, that self indulgent taint is still there in the background. Maybe I should stick to medicine.

I’d include the editorial here for reference, but it’s really quite long…
