The daughters threw a party last night while we were out of town. Never fear – it was all fully preapproved. There were some very strict provisos, such as only a limited number of people being allowed (possibly exceeded by a factor of 5 or so, from what I can gather after the event, but no matter). The girls had also checked in with our neighbours beforehand, and luckily they too were away for the weekend, leaving a very elderly and deaf grandmother house sitting, so the chances of noise complaints were fairly low. Nevertheless, we returned this evening with some trepidation. We needn’t have worried. The house was spotless – cleaner than we left. Not only that – the fridge had more alcohol in it than before the party. A minor miracle. In fact, if it wasn’t for the stack of red cups with the obligatory ping pong balls, and our daughters’ rather weary demeanor, I wouldn’t have believed they’d even had a party. Amazing.
If I discover anything broken or missing in the next few days, I’ll let you know.
