I’m reading Holocaust survivor Primo Levi’s book If This Is A Man, about his time in Auschwitz, as recommended by a friend before Xmas. It’s the complete opposite of a barrel of laughs but it does give you perspective on such things as nose rings and neighbours chainsawing things at 8 o’clock in the morning when you’re trying to have a lie in.
