Famous

I am a bit of a cultural philistine (is there any other kind?) as anyone who knows me could attest. However, I may not know much about art, but I know what I like. One of my favourite artists is Michael McCormack, whose kids used to go to the same school as mine and whose gallery was just round the corner from our house in Island Bay. He also has a wonderful Irish accent, which is completely irrelevant but I still wanted to share that with you. We have two of his paintings, and I’ve just discovered the last one we bought a few years ago is on the front cover of his calendar this year. Very exciting! Of course we get no royalties – it’s there in the fine print when you buy the picture – but it still makes me feel very proud.
