Sad news

We have found a lump on Katie’s left upper foreleg.

Unfortunately the vet thinks because it’s grown so quickly its quite likely a sarcoma which isn’t very good. The only slim chance of a cure would likely need her leg amputated. Considering she is old and blind and deaf and already struggles with stairs, this just seems like a bad idea. It’s not troubling her so far – she’s still mobile and not in any pain – but she does seem to have aged a lot in the past few weeks.

We are all sad (well maybe not my husband so much – and of course the dogs have no idea) but we are just taking things one day at a time.

The vet visit was interesting. First she said that the dog was due her vaccinations, and we could do it all at the same time, but by the end of the consultation, she said we might as well not bother. And I can tell you, if your GP gives you lots of treats at your next visit, you ought to be very very worried.
