It was a dark and stormy night*,
so we decided a family sports tournament was in order. First up was a billiards game between Simon and a daughter. It was a one sided slaughter – and not in the direction you’d think – she absolutely wupped him. It was because it was a poor quality table, that was warped and had a lean. Also, the balls were different sizes. This is what I picked up just from watching. Anyway, we have all been sworn to secrecy about the result so I will say no more about that.
Billiards was followed by a table tennis doubles match. It was meant to be a friendly game with no one keeping score but I think you can guess which one of us persisted with the super aggressive trick shots that were impressive to watch but impossible to play and led to much down time as the ball was chased across the room and into the nearby shrubbery. That Y chromosome has a lot to answer for. Luckily we were all fairly well lubricated by this time, so every shot missed was somehow hilarious and a great time was had by all.
