It’s time for the emotional support rodents to make their move to the big smoke – in fact, they are winging their way Northwards as we speak. Well, they’re taking the bus – and I’m writing, not talking – but you know what I mean.
My daughter is concerned, actually, about their mental well being. They are not good with change. It will take a couple of days for them to reach Wellington in their specially modified travel capsule (a click clack container with holes drilled in the top), and they will then need to get used to a brand new cage (we haven’t bought this yet but you’ll be impressed at how much of my money my daughter is willing to spend).
And then there is the problem of our dogs. Did you know Cairn Terriers are bred to be ratters? Katie may give the appearance of being a smelly incontinent good for nothing old dog – which is all true – but she’s also surprisingly light on her feet when it comes to offing rodents. It took her only a couple of seconds to kill a rat she spotted in the undergrowth a few months ago. It was terrifying and very impressive. I do not know how things are going to go. I will keep you informed.
