Patients get sent a health questionnaire by the hospital a few weeks before elective surgery, and in addition to things like health history and previous operations, they also have to write how much they weigh and how tall they are.

Every single one of my patients today wrote that they were both taller and lighter than they really were when objectively measured on admission.

There’s a universal truth in there somewhere.
