A double teapot moment with my surgeon this morning. My job is hard enough without being undermined by my colleagues. I went to see our first patient this morning, a lovely little girl, but when she heard how she was going to go to sleep for her operation, her face fell ludicrously and she started to cry. “But Mr M said I was going to have the numbing cream and a drip!” She wailed. No coming back after that. Mr M needs to stick to what he knows and not get all in my business. Mind you, how often do I ask patients if they have any questions about the anaesthetic, and they ask something like “how many stitches will I have?” Or “how long does the dressing stay on for?”
