Hoot

Further to my last post, I’ve been racking my brain as to how to convey the blowing of a raspberry in written form. You know, the way that “pfffft” so accurately conveys the sound of world weary cynicism that is so often the appropriate response to the youthful enthusiasm of others (and in the same vein, I believe the phrase “yeah right” is the only example in the English language of two positives making a negative). I think that “pffft” and whatever my new word is, are examples of onomatopoeia ahem (see what I did there?), and yes, I did need spell check for that. So you see how important high school English is for living a fulfilled life, kids?

Clearly I’m not the first to tackle this difficult problem
