Far out, man

Went to an update on street drugs this morning, intoxication being part of the differential diagnosis of adolescent agitation which was the topic being presented at our conference. Some of them I’d heard of before – ecstasy, molly – but some were new to me – crank, sally, ice, spice, AK47. Some are so new that they aren’t even illegal yet, and you can find them at your local 7/11, dried on leaves and pretending to be pot pourri, and labeled as “not for human consumption”.  The synthetic cathinones (I hadn’t heard of them either) are sold as “bath salts”. I can just imagine accidentally buying these and not realizing something was amiss until I started coming over all queer in the bath one night. It’s a dangerous world out there, kids!
